The Need

So, why do we need to build Islamic schools when there are excellent quailty public schools available? These public school deliver the education through highly qualified and experienced staff with little or no cost to the parents. Lets examine.

Personality development
School is not only a place where children learn how to read and write and add and subtract. It is a place that builds the personality, the thinking process and develops core values. There are radical differences between western values and Islamic teachings. In public schools, children basically learn the western value system consciously or sub-consciously. We need to provide an alternate system which builds the personality according to the teachings of Islam.

Affordability
Average cost of sending a child to an Islamic school in GTA is around 350 CAD per month. For three children the cost can easily be 1100 CAD per month. As you can imagine, this kind of cost is not affordable by all the parents. There are some parents who are forced to undertake double jobs just to afford this cost.

Communities of learning
Education is an all encompassing process and the learning process continues throughout a child's day. We need to extend the boundaries of the school to include other important factors. These include but are not limited to parents, teachers, books and media.
